Saugus Schools Set June 18 as Final Day Across All Three Buildings
SAUGUS — The 2025-26 school year reaches its final days this week, with all three Saugus school buildings closing out on June 18 — and the Saugus Public Library standing by with summer reading programs and a timely history talk to mark the transition.
SCHOOLS
The final stretch of the school year runs differently building to building. At Belmonte STEAM Academy, snow makeup days occupy much of this week; on Monday, June 16, summer reading assemblies for grades two through five are scheduled back-to-back — fourth and fifth graders at 8:30 a.m. and second and third graders at 9:00 a.m. A fifth-grade moving-on ceremony follows on June 17, and Belmonte's last day is June 18, with an early dismissal at 11:15 a.m.
At the Saugus Middle/High School Complex, high school students take final assessments under a compressed release on both June 17 and June 18, dismissing at 12:30 p.m. each day. The Veterans Early Learning Center holds an early-dismissal day on June 17 and its own last day on June 18 at 11:30 a.m. All buildings are closed June 19 for Juneteenth. Report cards are issued district-wide on June 24.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Saugus Public Library is ready for summer. Adult Summer Reading — open to patrons 18 and older — runs June 22 through August 14; participants log each book they finish through an online form. Children's summer reading carries a Pokémon theme this year. Teens can look ahead to a Jewelry Swap on July 6 and a Slime Time on July 20.
On display now is "Natural World," a photography exhibit by Jordan Lavino. On June 18 — the very day school lets out — the library hosts journalist and author Ted Reinstein for "Greetings from Breed's Hill: Fact & Folklore on America's 250th," a well-timed program as Massachusetts marks the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill.
