Salem Hosts Pride Parade, World Cup Watch Party, and Green Expo This Weekend
Salem enters the final weekend of June with a packed civic calendar: North Shore Pride fills Salem Common on Saturday, a World Cup watch party lights up Charlotte Forten Park tonight, and a Living Green Expo is set for Sunday morning — all unfolding against the city's ongoing Salem 400+ anniversary year.
TOWN HALL
The city's event calendar is running at full tilt heading into the weekend. The 2026 North Shore Pride Parade and Festival takes place Saturday, June 27, starting at noon, with road closures and security measures in place along the parade route. The Friends of Forten Park and Salem 400+ are hosting a free World Cup watch party tonight at Charlotte Forten Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. — Spain vs. Uruguay on the big screen — with attendance free but sign-up required.
Mayor Dominick Pangallo and the city are also hosting a Living Green Expo on Sunday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Hall. Residents interested in sustainability programming should plan to arrive early.
On the Salem 400+ front, parade registration for the August 1 Heritage Days Parade is nearing capacity, with more than 50 groups already signed up. The registration deadline has been extended to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 — but organizers warn spots are nearly gone. A separate Family Field Day at Forest River Park is set for Sunday, July 12, free to all families.
The city's Fourth of July celebration is also taking shape, with this year's "Salem Celebrates the 4th" incorporating themes from both America's 250th anniversary and Salem's own 400+ milestone year.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Salem Public Library feed pulled in today pointed to the Salem Public Library in Salem, Ohio — a separate institution — and yielded no usable programming content for Salem, Massachusetts. No library events from the local Salem Public Library were available in this cycle.
