Saugus Library Opens Summer Season With Concerts, Pokemon Reading Challenge
The Saugus Public Library is launching a full slate of summer programming this week, anchoring community activity in town as the school year winds down.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The library's summer season is well underway, with several programs hitting their stride this week. On Thursday, June 25, the library hosts Mr. Vinny the Bubble Guy at 10:00 a.m., a children's program sure to draw families looking for early-summer fun. That same afternoon, the Pokemon Club meets at 4:00 p.m., tying into the library's broader children's summer reading theme — "Pokemon: Gotta Read 'Em All!" — which runs through the season.
For adults, the Thursday Night Book Club meets June 25 at 6:30 p.m., and an English class is offered at 6:00 p.m. the same evening.
The library also announced this week that free outdoor concerts will return to the historic Saugus Iron Works this summer. The Summer Concerts @ the Iron Works series features a lineup of performers at the nationally recognized Iron Works site; specific dates and performers were posted on the library's blog on June 18.
Also of note: the Board of Library Trustees adopted a new Lost & Found Policy on June 11, formalizing procedures for handling items left at the building. Details are available on the library's website.
For teens, the library is recruiting members for a new Teen Advisory Board, which will give young residents a voice in programming and book selections. The first meeting is scheduled for July 27.
