Salem School Committee Opens Three-Night Superintendent Finalist Forums Monday
SALEM — The Salem School Committee kicks off the first of three consecutive evenings of public meetings with superintendent finalists tonight, giving residents their chance to weigh in before the district makes one of its most consequential hires.
TOWN HALL
Mayor Dominick Pangallo and the city began Juneteenth week Monday with a flag raising ceremony, the first of two events anchoring Salem's 2026 Juneteenth celebrations. The larger gathering — the Juneteenth Jam — is set for Charlotte Forten Park on Friday, June 19, with programming beginning at 11:30 a.m. and continuing through the evening with vendors, performances, and more.
The mayor also released the latest episode of his Salem Compass podcast, featuring a conversation with Nicole McLaughlin, executive director of Plummer Youth Promise. The episode is available through the city's website at salemma.gov.
SCHOOLS
Tonight's community conversation with superintendent finalists is the first of three evenings running Monday through Wednesday, June 15–17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Saltonstall School Auditorium. Residents who cannot attend in person can watch each forum live on Zoom or on the Salem Access Television (SATV) YouTube channel. The School Committee has not yet announced the finalists' names publicly in the available source material.
