Methuen High JROTC Cadets Deploy to Devens for Leadership Training Tuesday

METHUEN — Monday brought a quiet news cycle at City Hall, with no new announcements from town departments overnight; the week's main action shifts to Methuen Public Schools, where JROTC cadets depart Tuesday for a four-day leadership course and the district counts down its final instructional days.

SCHOOLS

Methuen High School's JROTC program begins its Junior Cadet Leadership Course (JCLC) at Devens, MA, on Tuesday, June 16, running through Friday, June 19. The all-day program gives cadets hands-on leadership training at the former Army base turned joint military and civilian community west of Lowell.

The end-of-school calendar also tightens this week: June 19 is Juneteenth, a no-school day with all district buildings closed. June 22 marks the 180th instructional day and an early-release schedule, followed by another early release on June 23 — the 185th instructional day. The School Committee has a Workshop and End-of-Year Meeting scheduled for June 22 at 6 p.m. in the MHS Media Center.
