Wrong recording submitted: no Salem School Committee business found on tape

SALEM — May 28, 2026 — A recording submitted for the Salem School Committee's May 28, 2026 meeting contains no Salem, Massachusetts public business. The footage is an episode of "Discovery," a student-produced program from Salem High School, in which a student host interviews a school board chairman who identifies his board as operating under "the laws of the state of New Hampshire." The chairman, addressed as Michael Carney, discusses his role presiding over meetings and describes a budget cycle ending in a district-wide public vote — a process inconsistent with Massachusetts municipal governance. No Salem, Massachusetts officials appear, no agenda items are addressed, and no votes are recorded. The correct meeting recording has not been located.
