Library Roof Repairs Underway as Summer Reading Season Opens in Lynnfield
The Lynnfield Public Library is midway through roof repairs this month while simultaneously ramping up its summer reading and programming season, making the building busy both inside and out as the school year winds down.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The library's roof replacement project is ongoing through June, but the building remains open and programs are running on schedule. The library's Summer Reading 2026 program — themed "Plant a Seed, Read" — is underway, with participants able to track progress through Beanstack. Art-to-Go! kits are available all week while supplies last, offering free take-home art projects for children of all ages.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, June 24, the library will host Story Time for young children from 10 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Coloring Club for teens and adults from 6 to 8 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public. The library is located at 18 Summer St.
SCHOOLS
Lynnfield Public Schools' website is pointing families toward summer resources, including posted summer assignments and the newly published District Calendar for the 2026–27 school year. The first day of school for grades one through 12 is set for Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Kindergarten registration for SY 2026–27 is also open. The district has published its FY27 Budget Book and strategic plan for 2026–2031 for public review.

From one day prior, Patch reported: "🌱 Patch AM: How Lynnfield's police academy just helped launch 55 new officers." The item highlights the graduation of a new cohort of officers connected to a Lynnfield training program (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/lynnfield).
Five days ago, Patch flagged a story still worth noting for residents: "🌱 Patch AM: What changes are coming after racist incidents at Lynnfield schools?"
